By Sharon Peters The premise here is a take off on Shakespeares bawdy comedy of love and confusion among men and gods -- written in 1595 or 96.
If you dont know from A Midsummer Nights Dream, this will likely seem a witty adult comedy -- an actual multi-character plot line and far out costumes, with lots of Christina Aguilara glitter on the babes. To anyone familiar Shakespeares characters, the names will be recognizable, as are the mostly passable attacks on their motivations. Youll cringe a few times when the talent over- (or under-) reaches, but then were not really doing Shakespeare here, are we?
Its a hard moment to top and the rest of the film doesnt hit that height, but there is plenty here to keep you chuckling, the mix-up of lovers, mortal and celestial, even bestial with Kyle Stone as the ass-headed character Bottom getting off under Nina Hartleys enhanced breasts. What I also enjoy about this sex farce is that its ambitious in ways one doesnt see much of these days a big cast, certainly interesting costuming, a great set and locations, often engaging camera angles and an above average effort to be funny in ways that arent purely unintentional. This is actually fun porn, and bless it for that. A Midsummer Nights Cream video is the best thing weve seen from Adam & Eve in quite a while. |
