Women Who Seek Group Sex with Men

A study by sexologists Joan and Dwight Dixon yields valuable information on women who initiate encounters with three or more men.

Three years ago, we sought to learn more about a small population of women who specifically seek opportunities to have sex with groups of three or more men.

Our purpose was to uncover details about the women as individuals and as a group. Until this study, there was no specific, quantified knowledge about women who seek gangbangs, only urban myth.

We wanted to know about their personal demographics, their sexual histories, and some important details about their particular sexual behaviors involving them and groups of men. Among these women a group of 10 men is not uncommon. The number 20 even came up in our research.

To reach these women we secured a selection of regional and national swinger publications. In them people advertise for potential sexual partners. We found ads from women seeking groups of men for sexual purposes. We sent letters to 132 women.

The letter contained a 4-page questionnaire and a stamped, self-addressed, return envelope. We explained who we are and the purpose of the questionnaire (that we would present our findings to various interested groups, such as a future Lifestyles convention, which we did in July 2001 in Las Vegas).

We assured confidentiality of answers and mentioned that if a respondent wanted to remain anonymous she could do so by simply not including a name or return address. We promised to send a summary of our findings to all respondents who requested it.

Of the 132 letters, 17 were returned as undeliverable. We received 37 usable responses, a wealth of information.

FINDINGS:

• Ages ranged from 24 to 50, with 37 as the average age.
• 42 % have no children; 43% have one or two children.
• 81% say they are bisexual. 38% of the committed partners said they were bisexual.
• 64% have over a high-school education. 19% have graduate degrees.
• 86 % of respondents preferred to play in 3 –to-10 men groups.
• Frequency of gangbangs ranged from once a year to twice a week. Half of respondents gangbang once or twice a month.
• 86% of the women reported that a gangbang elevated their sexual pleasure and intensity to a unique level. In terms of orgasmic frequency:

70% said they always orgasm from intercourse in gangbangs; (68% said they always orgasm when having intercourse with their regular partner.) 24% answered "usually" have orgasms during gangbangs. (20% said "usually" about orgasming with their regular partner.) 5% said "seldom/never" (12% said "seldom/never" with their regular partner).

• 92% say they are in committed relationships, which have lasted from two to 30 years. One woman said she has had over 2,000 sex partners during the course of her relationship.
• In 76% of cases the mate is always present at the gangbang. 88% of these women sometimes or always had sex with their mates during the gangbang. 24% of the women sometimes gangbang without their mates being present.
• 38% of these women indicated that their mates are bisexual.
• 45% of respondents said they always or sometimes make the arrangements themselves. 55% said their partners make the arrangements. 60% of the women always or sometimes had a veto over the situation. 40% said they never had a veto.
• 42% of respondents are always videotaped during gangbangs. 42% sometimes are videotaped. Only 15% of respondents were never filmed or videotaped.
• In terms of where these women drew their "everybody-but-them" lines, there was a full spectrum of racial and ethnic restrictions. Other no-nos included: heavy smokers, drinkers or druggers, unclean bodies, obesity, and sadists.
• 86% reported never having had a sexually transmitted disease. STDs mentioned by the remaining 14% included crabs, gonorrhea, syphilis, and chlamydia.
• 35% said they always require condom use during gangbangs. 54% said they require condoms sometimes . 11% said they never do.
• Of the women in committed relationships, about 1/3 had been swinging for 5 years or less; 1/3 had been swinging for between 5 - 10 years; and about 1/3 had been swinging for over 10 years.
• 41% said they had been engaged in gangbangs for less than one year up to five years. 35% had been into it for 5 to 10 years. 24% have been going at for over a decade.
• Among problems the women reported:
  Finding enough men
  Finding compatible men
  Men being too rough
  Men having erection problems
  Men who misstate their penis size when responding.
• Among women who say they prefer their partners African-American (58%), the preferred ages of partners was 18 to late 20s. Among women preferring white partners (33%) the preference is for men 30 and above.
• The survey respondents said they use a variety of means to find partners. Predictably -- as we were answering magazine ads to find the women -- 95% listed placing magazine ads as a source. 62% said they found group fodder through answering magazine ads. 59% at swing parties. 59% made connections through friends. 35% found parters in bars. Other sources mentioned were: adult bookstore, mate's business associates, adult theaters, internet, biker groups, and flashing in public.

PERSONAL STATEMENTS:

We asked the women to express in their own words their feelings and experiences concerning four areas of their gangbang history: How they got started gangbanging, a description of their ideal sex scene (even if they may never have it), the hottest gangbang scene they have ever had, and what they would say to a woman who was undecided as to whether or not to begin partying with groups of men.

A summary of first gangbanging experiences shows that the most usual factor involved was a male partner who suggested it, encouraged it, and often instigated it. This was done in a few cases by the male partner offering the woman to his male friends at a party or social event of some kind. Sometimes the male would set up a special event for the first gangbang. A few women reported being drunk leading up to the first gangbang. Another common theme was the woman initiating the idea of a gangbang and asking the male to set it up some way. A few women began gangbanging almost impulsively at swing parties. Some began gangbanging while single and a few did so at a very early age.

As one might imagine, the ideal sexual scenes that were described all involved multiple partners. They seem to fall into scenes involving the woman and three or four partners and scenes involving the woman and a much larger number of partners, such as eight, ten, or more. A common scene involved the woman being penetrated in her mouth, pussy, and ass simultaneously while other males wait their turn. Some described an actual position as part of their ideal scene such as being tied up spread-eagle on a bed (in some cases blindfolded), or in a doggie style position on all fours. For some the scene was in any bed, a motel bed, "outdoors," near a body of water, or in an adult theater. A sizeable minority involved D/S scenes with the woman being submissive. The most commonly mentioned race of sex partners in these ideal scenes were black men. Some wanted them young and quite a few wanted the men well hung regardless of race. A few respondents desired other women to be in the ideal scene.

Descriptions of the hottest gangbang scene they had had did not lend themselves well to being categorized. Each described scene was different from the others in some important element. Some involved the submissive women being consensually "raped," forced to service men, bound, or perhaps even spanked. But then such a scene would differ from other submissive scenes in terms of were it took place, the number of men involved, or other circumstances. Some even involved bestiality along with the gangbang.

Some women were married at the time, some single. Some were the first gangbang the women had. Some involved strangers and some involved friends. Whether it was a simple scene between the woman and two or three men in addition to her mate or it was a complicated scene involving the woman and a revolving group of several dozen male strangers over a weekend, and whether or not there was "consensual" force involved or voluntary circle suckoff, all of the women picked the scene they described as their hottest gangbang to date and indicated they enjoyed it immensely. As was found described in many of the ideal scenes, many of the hottest gangbang scenes mentioned black, well-hung males being involved.

To the question about what they would say to a woman who is in the process of deciding whether or not to gangbang, the most common suggestion was to always have a supportive, protective male to accompany the woman in order to insure she is not forced into any situation that she does not desire to be in. Many suggested she start with a few guys (maybe only one or two plus her mate) and if all goes well and she wants more, then work up to whatever larger number she feels comfortable with Almost universally the women said they would take the opportunity to encourage the undecided woman to go ahead and begin. The remaining few failed to answer the question. Many comments were made to the effect that it will most likely be the most wonderful experience of the undecided woman's life and that she will have the most exciting and fulfilling sex she ever had.

CONCLUSION

When one considers that many of these women also have active sex lives with their regular partners and are also swinging with other couples (plus sometimes with single men and in some cases with animals) in addition to their gangbang activities, it is obvious what a high frequency of sexual activity they are involved in.

It is apparent that the women in this study are extraordinarily comfortable with their bodies and that they derive a great amount of pleasure from their sexual activities.

One explanation for this high level of sexual activity is that these women are typically highly orgasmic when sexually stimulated. They typically climax rather easily and multiple times during a sex session -- in some cases reaching a level of frequency limited only by their physical endurance. They seem exceptionally satisfied with their experiences, so much so that the most common problem reported was the difficulty in finding enough men that were comfortable participating in gangbangs.

It is significant to note that the respondents live in virtually all parts of the country -- East Coast, West Coast, along the Gulf of Mexico, North (even Canada), South, Midwest, and Plains States. They live in big cities, small towns, suburbs, and rural areas. Some are single and some are divorced.

Of those who are married, some are newly married and some have been happily married for a great many years (yet, one woman is on her fifth marriage). There is no "normal" age at which they began swinging or gangbanging. Some have no children and some have multiple children. Education levels range from tenth grade to doctorate. However, they have a higher average education level than does the general population. They come in a variety of body shapes and sizes, from the typical Big Beautiful Woman, to ones who could easily appear in Playboy. For some, gangbanging is a rare event in their life, and for some it's a regular repetitive event which can range from every other month to multiple times a month year in and year out. Between them their preferences in men are varied, as are their preferences in types of sexual activities. Some are dominant but many are submissive. As can be seen, our research shows there is no pigeonhole into which these remarkable women can be placed. They are, truly, a cross section of America, they just happen to desire sex with lots of men.
